Unaccompanied song is very much a ‘sum of the parts’ and all our voices contribute to the mix – from the lowest doo-wop to the sparkliest Gloria Gaynor moment – and that’s just the men…

EVERYONE’S VOICE IS WELCOMED, APPRECIATED AND ACCEPTED.

THE REPERTOIRE

The songs that we do are a mixture of my own, and my arrangements as well as other practitioners, as well as world music as well as the odd bit of sacred, and quite a lot of profane – you name it, I try to keep the rep diverse and alternative, with a good mixture of simple and complex arrangements needs. We also incorporate stagecraft, easy movement and listening skills into our sessions and build space for a bit of creative freedom and fun in the sessions.

Many of our songs started as suggestions from ‘Beanies’ (e.g. - Reach Out, One Note Samba) Hullabaloo has a very distinct style and flavour – we are big on Tamla Motown, but I am not sure we should try Faure’s Requiem, for example – though part of me would love to!

It is this style that we are known for, I think – our energy and how much we radiate when performing. This is what people notice and what draws them in. And it is a winning formula.
